Deciding for future January 14, 2006

Now that I have started blogging again, exactly 355 days
after my first post, so i think it will be right to write
about things that had occupied me in past year….
Hmmm almost all the year I was thinking about what should I
do after college. Ok, i know that its still one and half
year more before I graduate but many things need long
preparations. But , I have failed to decide in favour of any
one thing, so let me enlist the option that I have. Here
they are:
1. Doing MBA (This is what most people of my college are
thinking at this time and that too from institutions like
IIMs,XLRI etc.)
2.Doing MS from some foreign university.
3.Job
4.IAS
5.MS from some Indian university.
I have listed these options according to their populrity
level among people of our college. Now to decide first of
all I should reject the obivious ones. So MBA and IAS are
striked out. Still we are left with 3 options.
Now MS from indian universities doesn’t seem very good to
most people from PEC. But, I think ME/MTec from IISc can be
better than most of the other places. The only thing that
stops me from going for it is the extreme competition that
you have have to face for any competitve exam in India. I
know it is a negative thinking, but I know I cant show my
full potential in any written exam! Give me something to
build and I am sure I can perform better than most, if not
all the people who get better acads than me. Be it a
program,a circuit or anything for that matter! But alas this
is not the way people judge you to give admission in
colleges
Same is the case with getting admission to foreign
unversities, here the only differance is that instead of
competing for admission, you have to compete to get
scholarship. Without which most people like me can’t afford
the ependitures.
Finally the only option left is to try for getting a
job, which seems relatively easy because of excellent campus
placments for past 2-3 years in our college. But then it
will mean that my chances of getting higher and supposidely
better education will diminish further. Because after once
going away from studies,it will be difficult to prepare for
exams etc. Anyways I am almost fed up of cramming for so
many years and now am eager to do something useful i.e.
professional work!!

I agree that from my post it seems like I want to choose the
easiest path, well this is not the case, maybe I was unable
to express myself correctly. Anyways I will keep in mind
what you have said. Thanx once more -
