Nothing weird about me! June 25, 2006

Sayesha mass-tagged everybody coming to her blog (You see
how cruel she can be!!) and then Sirius
dhishoomed a similar
tag (look at his Dharmendra style comment on the post
below).

First the weird things that I have done at my study place
(originally it was meant to be workplace but I haven’t
worked as yet):

  • Sleeping on the
    first bench in class
    : This started with Physics
lecture in +2 class. The tone of our teacher was much
more effective than any sleeping pills and then it
doesn’t matter where you are sitting. So, it was a daily
routine and my other classmates found it difficult to
hide their laughter. Once both me and AKS, were sleeping
on the very first bench!! And strangely the teacher
never pointed me out (though when I expanded my sleeping
profile, our Chemistry teacher once said “Sumit…. get
out” just plain three words, but they were not
sufficient to prevent me from sleeping in other
lectures). After coming to college, its a very common
scene though I have not found anyone else who can match
me in sleeping in such a posture that you just can’t
tell until you sit in front of my seat and look at my
    closed eyes from below.

Rest all the points below are my efforts to stay awake
during the most boring lectures:

  • Reading newspaper/magazine:Thanks
to the people preparing for MBA, I can read 2-3
newspapers (Mostly Hindu and ET) and 1-2 magazines
(mostly India Today or Business World) during any
lecture. Though newspaper are difficult to handle under
the table but sitting in 4th row makes it easier.
  • Eating others’ lunch:
    There are few ladies
of our class who occasionally bring lunch for hostelers
and then when they are waiting for the lecture to get
over, me and R A take our share before others can jump
    in.
  • Playing multiplayer games:
    The credit for this
goes to Bluetooth and Nokia phones. And even Snake looks
much better when playing in multiplayer mode. And in the
car racing, I always defeat R A when teacher is in the
class (though he wins by a huge margine when teacher is
not there). He is always worried that Prof will throw
him out of the class and in the process his car goes
into ditch! Also once in a while even one girl of our
class is brave enough to race with us while teacher is
    in class!
  • Watching movie on laptop:
    This point
disappointed Sayesha when I told that the movie was
    Pearl Harbour!!
  • Listening songs on
    mobile:
Here again me and R A have been partners,
sharing one ear-plug each. Its much easier than what it
sounds, especially when the Prof doesn’t leave the
    lecture stand.

After reading this tiny list, I am feeling that in my last
(hopefully) year in the college I should try to have more
fun. Isn’t it??

Now the Dhishoomed tag. These are few things which are very
very obvious to me but most of the people find them weird:

  • Not preparing for
    MBA
: No explanation is needed here. Dunno when it
was made mandatory that you can’t complete engineering
without preparing for CAT!! Anyways, I am ready to dump
BE but just can’t even think about MBA.
  • I believe its normal
    to forget anything
     (including b’days): But seems
very few people are ready to accept it.
  • Have seen only 2
movies in cinema in past 20 years
    : and they were
“Sarbansdani Guru Gobind Singh” and “Shaheed Udham
    Singh” Which we were
    forced
to see in our school. Can’t give any
precise reason for this but somehow everytime either the
right place or the right movie or the right person is
not present and then piracy rocks!!!
  • Its easier to wake at 4:00am than being awake up to
    12:00 midnight
  • I don’t hate
    Himesh Reshmiya:
I don’t watch musical channels, so can’t say about how
he looks and then in almost all the songs nowadays music
is the only saving grace. So, I dont have anything
against him. Can handle his voice because of the
reasonably good music of most of his songs.
  • I like keeping my
    room/table/rack neat
: This point looks strange to
    most hostelers.
  • Prefer Midtown Madness to NFS and Max Payne/Half
Life to Doom/Counter Strike and never like to play FIFA/Winning
Eleven/Cricket: only PC gamers can understand this
    point!!
  • Prefer walking (for distances shorter than 2-3kms)
and cycle (for shorter than 5-6 kms) than car or
    scooter.
  • I love Delhi
: and don’t mind 6 hrs journey, traffic jams, pollution
    etc.
  • I hate joke/fwd sms: this explains why I get less
    than 5 sms per day.
  • Never forward chain
    mails
: yup I have died thousands of times, have
had hundereds of accidents have lost hundreds of my best
friends have lost billions of dollars in cash and
jewellery but even such horrible mishaps could not force
me to forward any chain mails!!

So, if you wanna kill me or wanna break any friendship
or wanna know whether I love my dad or not then please
send a chain mail and bingo!!

Hey.. whats wierd in that.. It
looked like i’m reading what all ‘I’ did at college.

Preparing for CAT is nothing but a ‘Bhedchaal’ among
students coz everybody else is preparing for CAT or GRE and
not coz ‘they’ want it. When asked for a reason: “I thing I
have inbuilt managment capabilities.”.. Same answer with
everybody..(don’t know if it was specified in the Times
tutorial)… If they had been in the era of the Gandhi
wherein every other fellow wanted to be a Lawyer or Barister,
I’m sure they would have automaically inheretited those
skills.

I can bet this would be any other college guy (except for
waking up at 4:30 am… I always used to get me neighbours
into trouble when their parents visited the hostel and found
me studing/jogging at 4:00 in morning… They never knew I
used to sleep at 9:00 itself just after supper ;););) …
and they somehow land up at the only day I plan to get up
early ;))

Nice blog to check out :)
